CAROLYN’S POSTBAG HIGHLIGHTS: Books I Bought in February

As always Amazon had a great kindle sale on quite a few Mammoth Book anthologies. I don’t often read short stories but when I’m in a bit of a reading slump sometimes they can help me out of it. So I like to have a few to hand. I did go a bit nuts, as at only 99p I had to buy the lot! The Mammoth Book of: Ghost Romance, Irish Romance, Special Ops Romance, Scottish Romance, Time Travel Romance and Paranormal Romance #2 (I already have #1)

These anthologies are full of well known authors such as Karen ChanceLara AdrianLarissa IoneJennifer Estep and Carolyn Crane, so I’m looking forward to dipping in and out at my leisure.

I also pre-ordered Temporary Arrangement by Karen Erickson from Samhain as it was free (I still think it is actually). I like the sound of this one and the cover too.

Alone and broke, Paige Stewart can’t believe her good luck. Who hires a virtual stranger out of a New York City coffee shop to care for their adorable grandson? Apparently Claudia Renaldi does. Widower Matteo Renaldi isn’t pleased that his mother found a replacement nanny so soon after he fired the last one. Yet little Matty takes to Paige like no other nanny before. And Matteo can’t deny he’s quite taken with her as well. She’s beautiful. Sweet. And far, far too young for him.

There’s something about the gorgeously sexy Matteo that fills Paige with longing to break through his wall of formality and touch his softer side. But no one knows better than she that crushing on her boss is one thing. Acting on those feelings is forbidden. Foolish. Inevitable…

Warning: Sexy, grumpy Italian hero who is determined to keep his walls up. No matter how much his son’s sweetly beautiful nanny drives him to distraction…

I also downloaded Darkness Dawns by Dianne Duvall, book one in her Immortal Guardians series, Instant Attraction by Jill Shalvis, the first in her contemporary romance The Wilders series (continuing my love of all things Jill right now) and Sins & Needles by Karina Halle, a dark contemporary romance.

The only paperbacks I bought were Dead Things by Stephen Blackmore, which sounds rather intriguing, Soulbound by Tessa Adams, which also sounds good, and I’m really digging the cover, and The Legend of the Crystal Lens, a romantic suspense/adventure by Samantha Graves. I really enjoyed A License to Steal, which I read (and reviewed) a couple of years back, so when I saw this I had to buy it. It’s also our Book Club pick for April.

So, that’s it – a mixed bag as usual. Before you go, make sure you tell me what books you bought, ’cause you know, we all need more books…
